Overview

Many artists go through periods. Van Gogh went through his Blue Period, Rose Period, African Influenced Period and Cubism Period. Many magicians also go through periods. One day they are focused on cards, another time on coins. John Bannon travelled through several genres of card magic and back again. Lucky by John Bannon is a pseudo travel guide through his various phases of card magic. It is a glimpse into the ever fertile and creative mind of one of the most renowned modern card magic creator.

Effect

Contained within the pages of Lucky are 10 hard hitting Bannon tricks that require only a regular deck of cards however, the packet trick enclosed will need for you to acquire a few Ace of Spades, a couple of Jokers, and an odd backed Queen but nothing so out of the ordinary that anyone who does card magic shouldn’t have. Most were never in print and a couple were on his DVD set but for those who have not gone through the Bannon “experience” and would like a smorgasbord of what he has to offer would gain tremendous insight to his styles of card magic.

Method

Like most Bannon card creations, they are never sleight heavy. His approach to card magic is uncomplicated. Many are based on mathematical principle such as the Automatic Placement or basic sleights such as the Elmsley Count. Nothing in Lucky (or most of his work) is beyond the scope of an intermediate performer.

Product Quality

The booklet is 104 pages and with zero filler. The way each trick is presented as written in segments which explain the premise, the setup, the presentation and additional suggestions for alternative endings. Also included is his dialogue which “sells” the trick because some actions (such as reverse counting 20 cards) needs to be done casually but not silently. The instructions are clear and the photographs clarify all moves.

Ad Copy Integrity

Anything released by Bannon whether in print or video format is well worth the time and money. You could never go wrong with any product.
