Andrew Mayne has a knack for taking existing ideas and giving them strange new twists. Unfortunately, I'm not sure this produces consistently better magic.

I've decided that the best way to review this manuscript is to make a few wacky and obscure comments on the equally wacky and obscure effects in the book -- let the reader decide for him- or ht with a piece of paper. It has potential. Maybe the author will release a new manuscript with a better gimmick some day.erself.

Eugene Burger's Shotglass Surprise done with a larger bag and a coffee mug.

Do-it-yourself cut & restored tongue. I'm not sure what market this would work for (grunge clubs?), but I don't think the CEO is going to appreciate this one.

Bucket Head
One phrase comes to mind: "what's the point?" You stick your head in a bucket and then pour out a small amount of water (much less than the capacity of the bucket). Maybe I'm missing something…

Tissues to dove… but with a brick! Stick to the original -- it makes more sense. Look it up in Ian Adair's Encyclopedia of Dove Magic.

Brick Flight
See if this makes sense to you: Vanishing Dove Cage Cloth + Tail Topit Vanish (without the topit). Hell, it might just work if the blocking is right.

Electric Lunch
I'll be honest: I like this one! It almost makes sense in a strange way. You drop a light bulb into a paper sack, smash it (they hear it break), pour the fragments into your mouth and crunch, crunch, crunch. Finally you spit out a bit of metal that just wouldn’t go down. The routine ends with some sugar packets that don't make sense to me, but it's easy to cut those out.

Another one that might be good for strange people. A modern-day yogi feat with a thumb tack and … well… your thumb. There must be a funny line hiding in there somewhere.

Paper Cut
It makes sense! Knife through arm, but with a piece of paper. It has potential. Maybe the author will release a new manuscript with a better gimmick some day.
