Flying Coins

Khin Magic

(Based on 1 review)

The performer shows one of the cups to be empty and then places four coins into the other beautifully crafted wooden cup. The performer then pours out the cup full of coins and only three coins come out. The performer then turns over the other cup that was previously shown to be empty and the missing coin is poured out!

This is one of the best versions I've seen of Flying Coins. There is another version out, more expensive, and done up in solid brass. Then, there are the low end plastic versions, which I won't waste words on. The effect is a classic, and whenever I use these cups-I know that just the SIGHT of them, automatically telegraphs to the spectator(s), that they are about to see something very special indeed. These cups live in a portion of my magic collection, which includes props made of wood, and brass. Some antique looking playing cards as well. To me, having old looking props, can set the magic back in time, to when people still believed that magic was the work of witches, devils, and supernatural forces. Even without a period style presentation, these are gorgeous props to handle and to behold. I own a small matching set of cups for cups and balls, made from the same wood (which one dealer defined as Cambodian Monkey Wood).
One critical adjustment I made to these cups, was to put a thin layer of black fabric on the bottom interiors. This, to prevent unwanted coin 'talking' throughout the effect. Other than that, the cups work beautifully, and the effect seems as classic as cups and balls...well worth researching, for the sake of origin and handlings. So far as pricing, these seem quite reasonable, compared to what they would cost if produced by top U.S. manufacturers.
