Overview

Every now and then a project comes along that not only delivers what is claimed but over-delivers. Cube 52 by Craig Petty and produced by Murphy’s Magic is such a project. If you do Rubik’s Cube magic, thought about doing Rubik’s Cube magic or never even given Rubik’s Cube magic a thought, this is a release you definitely should consider. I wouldn’t even call it a trick because so much is built into this project that there has to be something anyone involved in magic can use it for. The potential of this utility deck seems inexhaustible that volumes can actually be written about it.

Effect

Without exaggeration, dozens of tricks can be performed using this deck and is limited by one’s own imagination. However, if your imagination is limited such as mine, the tutorial provides 35 tricks not including anything you can do with an ESP deck and any other trick utilizing 6 pairs of cards such as Dowsing for Duplicates by Alexander Marsh. The routines range from tricks such as prediction effects, coincidence effects, ACAAN effects, Out of This World and a slew on mentalism and mental magic effects. There are routines that does not need a Rubik’s Cube and some that do. There are also basic instructions on solving a cube or making it appear that you can solve a cube even when you can’t.

Method

Many methods are used including some basic card sleights, setting up the deck into a stack, utilizing the cleverly hidden markings on the back to self -working effects. Not one millimeter of space is wasted on the cards themselves or the tuck box it comes in.

Product Quality

The deck is comprised of 54 cards representing the six colors of a Rubik’s Cube. Not surprisingly there are nine of each of the six colors making fifty-four cards. In addition, the six colored faces the backs have been designed with great thought in mind as well as the tuck case it comes in. Phil Smith of the UK, designed the entire project that virtually nothing was left out. The deck is a marked deck with multiple ways to determine the card showing, the card after and the card which preceded it. So much has been built into this seemingly innocent looking deck that it seems the opportunities are inexhaustible. The cards are printed by the US Playing Card Company and the quality of the cards are as good as any high quality deck. The most impressive part is the instructional. There are 9 hours of instructions broken up into four volumes, each of which focuses on a specific genre of magic. The instructional video not only is an incredible feat but it is filmed and paced excellently. Hats off to Craig Petty and all the contributors to this project.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy not only is accurate but doesn’t do this project justice. When you read glowing tributes by fellow professional magicians on many of the ads, one kind of figures that they are supporting each other regardless of the quality of the project. After taking in some of the video and playing with the cards I can see that this is a veritable bargain.

Final Thoughts

As a final note, Craig Petty does such a phenomenal job presenting the material, he inspired me to attempt to learn the Rubik’s Cube again. If I could give this project 10 stars I would, it is a release well worth investing not only your money but your time.
