THE GENII is a classic of magic also known as prayer vase.

EFFECT:

In this version, You show an empty Genii's bottle.. well it's almost empty. There is a Genii inside and it is impossible to see him however, you prove he is there by placing a piece of rope into the bottle.
THE GENII grabs the rope and does not let go! you hold only the tip rope and the bottle is floating in air!! You ask THE GENII to let go of the rope and he does! the rope can now be taken out of the bottle by your audience member! There is nothing to be found inside the bottle, THE GENII really does exist!

Overview

I have loved this trick since I was a kid novice magician. I remember having super cheap plastic vases and I think it was called the prayer vase. Now is it the Genii it has been upgraded with slightly better plastic, a nicer vase and a decent short piece of rope. I am sure I have an old plastic cheapo version somewhere in a box in my basement, but this Murphy's Apprentice Line version is tops!

Effect

You show a magical vase and a string. The string is inserted into the vase and it doesn't stay. When you summon the Genii, the string is again inserted into the vase and when you lower your hand the vase does not drop. The vase can be held upside down and the string does not fall.

Method

There is a secret tiny little thing that makes this magic happen and it is so simple and so fun and any kid magician will love this trick.

Product Quality

Much better quality for this Apprentice Line version than the vases we got in magic trick kits when we were all kids. It is still plastic, but a stronger plastic and a nicer shaped vase. This is a great trick for a young magician.

Overview

The Genii is another release by Apprentice Magic geared towards the beginning magician. All the tricks in this series are simple, classic magic tricks that many experienced magicians have long been acquainted with. Once manufactured in brass and exotic woods, these classics are more seen nowadays in the plastic versions like the one offered here. Despite the materials the trick is made of, the effect is the same. The effect relies more on the presentation than the object, and that’s where the magic lies.

Effect

The Genii is classic of magic featured in Greater Magic and Mark Wilson’s Course on Magic. The Genii trick was also referred to as the Prayer Vase, Genii Bottle or the Vase of Allah. The performer displays a small vase and shows that it is empty. It is laid on the table in front of the audience. A small piece of rope is inserted into the bottle and the resident genii is coaxed to hold onto the rope. The rope is slowly pulled up and amazingly the bottle rises with the rope. When the magician sees fit, he asks the genii to release the rope and the bottle is free.

Method

Naturally the prop does all the work for you, which leaves you nothing but to focus on the delivery. Unless you know the secret behind the method, it is extremely hard to re-engineer. Don’t be fooled by the low cost of this product, it works just as good as the ones made out of more expensive materials.

Product Quality

The props are made of plastic but that shouldn’t deter someone from giving this a go. The “trick” is the ability to weave a good tale. In other cheap versions of this trick you would probably get typed instructions on a miniscule piece of paper that you may be able to understand.
