Secret Seminars of Magic - Funny Business for Kid Shows

Page, Patrick

L & L Publishing

(Based on 1 review)
Funny Business for Kids' Shows is straight out of Patrick's own collection of gags, stunts and bits of business for entertaining children in large and small groups. A great deal of the material can also be used by clown acts, comics and comperes. Patrick Page shows you how to get maximum laughs with Break-A-Way wand, balloons, hats, paper, eggs, silks and even a bird warbler. But that's not all - Patrick's box closing gag and copy cat bit will guarantee belly laughs in the old silent film tradition. All bits of business in this video are fully demonstrated - nothing is left out. And they're all amazingly easy to do. It's a ready-reference manual of gags, stunts and bits of business for all magicians, comperes and entertainers.

To start off, I'm writing this in late Summer 2013 (that's important to note). I own and have watched this video (VHS) in it's entirety. At this moment, I think L&L has bundled this video AND Page's "25 Super Tricks" both into a single DVD which they presently offer on their site for $12.50. I will say quickly.......THIS video combined with that other video (which I've never watched) is a STEAL for the price. Honestly, economics gets factored into things(it always does) and the medium of 'video' has gotten cheaper and more accessible all the way around in recent years. I think it only mature and reasonable to ask oneself, "Can I find some cheaper/free video out there on the interwebs that covers this material?" -- before plunking down one's cold hard cash for what is essentially an instructional tool.
Whatever form you might pick this up in, it's worth an investment. Page's material, although a bit quaint in places, has that certain "time-tested" element to it. I got my money's worth, just from his bits using a breakaway want.
