NO WRITE SHARPIE

Alan Wong

(Based on 1 review)
Only a magician will want to buy a Sharpie that doesn't write and know why and what they want to do with it.

This is not a dry out Sharpie that you left under the sun, or put nail polish on the tip so it doesn't write. If you have done that you know it will still leave a mark as you write with it.

The No Write Sharpie has a rubber pen tip that looks like it's still wet and feel smooth on paper. You can allow a spectator to randomly mark on any printed matter without looking at it and seemingly leave a random mark for a chosen object you want them to choose.

The set comes with a real normal Sharpie and the No Write Sharpie, plus ideas for using it with lottery tickets, bingo cards and cross word puzzles.

Overview

No Write Sharpie by Alan Wong does exactly as its title says, it does not write. The big question I asked myself is, why? Not why doesn’t it write, because those involved in mentalism knows why one would want a marker that does not write. The question is why would someone buy a marker that doesn’t write when the tried and true methods in the past have always worked.

Effect

The performer takes out several Bingo cards and shows the spectator thay are all different. He turns the cards over and asks them to try and draw a circle without looking around a number. They do as instructed. Before turning the card around he takes out a piece of paper and it has prediction written on the front. They turn the Bingo card over and the number 37 is crudely circled. The prediction is turned over and it also says 37, the two numbers match.

Method

Obviously by the name of the product, we can ascertain how this is done. The spectator is handed a marker that doesn’t write and the number has been circled in advance. Only a little bit of deceptive handy work keeps the already marked card unseen.

Product Quality

The product comes with a tip that obviously does not write. It is made out of rubber and is supposed to resemble the feeling of a real marker. I personally think the two feel different but probably no one will notice. Also included is a regular working Sharpie® and an instructional download less than 8 minutes long with three routines. In reality the routine is the same but shown using Bingo cards, lottery tickets and crossword puzzles. The only “move” one may have to make is to switch out the markers.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is accurate and does not overstate what you receive. The claim is the traditional ways of making a marker un-writable still leaves marks behind on the paper. I don’t have experience with this so for those that do, this may be a viable alternative for them.
