As a reviewer, I don’t enjoy giving bad reviews. I feel fortunate that I have not received too many bad releases. However with “Zero Matrix,” I feel an obligation to say: stay away and save your money.

“Zero Matrix” is based on a principle that is believed to go back to the late 1700’s. It was well established by the 1800’s. The first time I witnessed it being applied to coins was the work of DonDrake. DonDrake used specific, custom materials to construct his pad and his coins so that everything matched and blended. With “Zero Matrix” the materials supplied won’t create the desired illusion unless one has a pad that matches.

The package includes eight plastic fifty cents pieces, eight adhesive dots for the backs, translucent playing cards and an instructional DVD. The DVD is in the PAL format so if you don’t have a multi-regional player or can't download a player on your computer, you are out of luck. The quality of the video is low. The segments are dark which they have to be to get the illusion to work. The instructions are in Chinese but there are sub-titles. Unfortunately they aren’t clear as they are rife with typos and grammatical errors. With patience and persistence, I suppose one could learn from it.

Perhaps with perseverance, one could make this work. They would need to invest in better materials and work in situations where one could control the conditions. A YouTube video comes to mind as you can control the lighting and the camera angle. It might look like the promo for “Zero Matrix.” But one would need to determine if it was worth all the work for such a limited use as I seriously doubt you could make what you receive here work in the real world.
