The bitten coin trick is a trick that probably most magicians have lurking in their draw upstairs somewhere. That is why I am surprised that nobody has reviewed it, so I will put a stop to that. Finally, before I go into more detail, the title of 'bitten coin' is only half the story, it's full title is 'bitten and restored coin'.

This effect is extremely visual, and the adcopy says that it is 'eye popping, visual magic' and it is right. it really does look impressive when executed well. (which can easily be achieved.)
The effect starts off by biting into a 10p coin, which is a magical moment in itself. the magician proceeds to start trying to digest it. (Much better than sansminds chocolate coin, which is pretty much the same effect but less impressive because it is normal to take a bite out of a chocolate coin but it isn't with a 10p coin. But anyway, back to the review of this product...) The audience are already impressed and drawn in, and then you spit out the bitten section back onto the main body of the coin. This works very well in a close up street situation, but not in a restaurant because it does involve spitting and I don't want be to be spitting on the table that people are about to eat off of. (Or spitting as far as the audience are concerned.)

The 'borrowed coin' part of the trick can be pulled off, however not quite perfectly. (It involves doing something instead of literally just taking a borrowed coin and straight away taking a clear bite out of the coin.) It does come with 'refills' and I am sure that it comes in other currencies. My only problem with it is that the magical moment itself is physically very small, (less than half the size of a 10p coin!) and so would not be impressive in a group situation, probably more suited to a one on one type situation.

Overall it is a powerful effect, which is practical and visual, and on the whole is a good effect, but the effect is very small. Decent trick.
