Ten incredible self working card tricks. Zero moves. 100% awesome.

I loved Volume One of this series, which featured lots of plug and play effects for the beginning card magician, and the wise professional who knows the value of moveless card magic. My standards were huge for this installment, and I was honestly a little let down.

The quality of performance and teaching is a little all over the place with the different guys performing and teaching the various tricks. My main issue is that some of these guys are just not engaging performers. If the point of self working material is to ‘focus on your presentation skills’ then we should see some good quality performers make something of this great material. There are moments during some great tricks where I was bored out of my mind, and wanted them to get to the point.

Then there’s the teaching. There are SO many times that the teachers look at each other, and say, “So WHY does it work? Who knows?” I don’t understand why BBM got guys to teach things they don’t fully understand. BBM has worked with some of the creators of these effects, why not have THEM explain these tricks?

There are some good effects, but a lot of the effects have similar procedures, odd handlings, or unfair moments. I liked a few of the methods and principles, but over all, there wasn’t as many great full effects as on the first volume of this series.

Some highlights on this disc were Armchair Mind Reading, Daryl’s Rising Card, and John Scarne’s Stapled Card.

This Volume is NOT bad, but not as good as the first. Just three stars and a half stars for this one.
