I have said before that I am not a big fan of Jay Sankey, but I am increasingly impressed with his products and his instructional ability. One of his latest products is a DVD called Omnilope. The DVD is about one product, an envelope, a very special envelope. The DVD is a high quality production and it comes with 4 omnilopes. The concept or methodology of the “trick” might not excite some of the more jaded magicians, since it is not new, but how he applies the concept is refreshing. Before I talk about how really good this DVD is, I will mention the only downside, for me anyway. There is no crediting. Since I have seen this concept used before in similar fashions, it would have been nice to touch on a little of the history, crediting, or similar ideas that have existed before. The Envelope is not a “trick” in itself but a tool that can be used in magic or mentalism. He goes into great detail how to use this tool and then gives many ideas/routines on turning it into a full blown routine. It is a fun DVD to watch. Jay’s teaching is first rate. Not only does he explain the concept and provide you with numerous routines, he also talks a great deal about the subtleties of using the prop. I really enjoyed this DVD and am impressed as Jay continues to get better at teaching on DVD. I mean really, he has taken a simply envelope and created an entire DVD around using it. And . . it was fully entertaining and compelling.
