Full disclosure-I am a former employee of Chris Smith of MagicSmith. I have read the previous review and I feel a rebuttal is called for. I don't feel the previous review is an accurate representation of what myself and many others feel is an extremely well made product that does a very specialized job. I believe that performers in need of this utility item need to find a preferred version of the type of product that this item is, and I understand that this particular version may not be the right tool for everyone. The fact is that the product, as designed and sold, is not what is reviewed. He did not receive anything even remotely resembling the product he reviewed, and so his criticism lies with the quality control of the shipment, and not the item itself. Essentially, the product is very well made and does exactly what it was designed for. Its' design is ingenious and very user friendly. Having purchased a multitude of similar items, it is nice to have one that duplicates an actual Sharpie pen, with none of the mess that other devices of its' type fall victim to. The DVD provides full instructions on how to refill the Sharpie if it dries out. Replacement parts are available, and Chris has some of the best customer service in the business. The mistake, while regrettable, would have been quickly addressed by Chris, if he was contacted. If you are the type of performer that uses a swami, this is worth a try.

Good concept. Not so good product. The pen received had silver metallic ink not black as in the advertisment. Silver does not show well on the business card. The ink was dried. The silver cap (without pocket clip) does not look like the black pens normally used. The metal silver band around the top of the pen looks a little strange. I attempted to convert to black ink which did not work. Probably if it came in black ink I would give a better rating. The CD-ROM was informative and gives instructions on refilling the ink. As delivered it is not usable.
