Can-tastic by Illusioncraft

The effect is of producing a borrowed watch or similar item in a sealed can. You are supplied with a can, (mine was Heinz Baked Beanz), a can opener, and the instructions.

Both the can and opener are gaffed, so you cannot hand out either before or after the performance. Mechanically, they seem to work the way they are supposed to. You will have to spend quite a bit of time handling them to create the illusion of carelessly opening a can with a can opener; that is to be expected. What I did not expect was that I would have to work out the loading of the can on my own. Their ad-copy promises detailed instructions, yet their supplied instructions for loading the can basically tell you to load the can and then put the lid on it out of sight. Really?

For $55, I expect that the creator of the effect would have given me a complete effect. If I have to work out the handling on my own, then I want the ad copy to read: "not very detailed instructions" or I want to be credited as a contributor.

After performing the trick several times the can carries tell tale marks. (close up) You have - like with any opened can - to be very careful not to cut your fingers on the lid. The props cannot be given for examination. The only natural performance and the one that will avoid people to want to examine the props is filling the can with whatever the label you put on it says. It is stunning to find the ring that disappeared in baked beans, but it is also rather messy and you have to fish to find it and you have to be careful not to have the sauce leaking out during your presentation.
