Bisection by Andrew Mayne is a riot. The DVD is well produced and easily understood. You get to see the actual trick performed for the camera. It looks very bizarre. The trick has you stand on stage. You grab a cloth and put it in front of you. You lift it above your head and then lower it to about crotch level. However, as the cloth comes down you have no upper body. The audience can only see a pair of pants walking at them with a cloth in front of them. The cloth is raised back up and you are whole again.

What I wrote above is actually what you see. The gimmick is easily made and Andrew does a good job of showing you how to construct it. What I especially enjoyed was that the gimmick can be picked up at any time during your show. It is not a body or clothing contraption that must be worn throughout the show.

Andrew did not go into much detail in how you might use this beyond the standard, “Watch this”, but with little thought there are a ton of applications. Although, Andrew does give a way to perform this surrounded, I don’t think it really lends itself to that kind of performance. This is best done on stage. I really enjoyed this and I think you will also.
