Almost 5 hours of practical, mind-blowing close-up magic!
Featuring exclusive music from Slaves To Gravity, Johnny Panic, Standing Dead Centre, Andrew Potterton and John Barr!
The Story: October 18th 2007, 2.08pm. Distress calls are received at Heathrow Airport from an inbound 'Boeing 747' from Florida. The pilot, three crew and twelve passengers have been struck down by a mystery illness. By the time the plane lands, 7 people are dead. Only one man, an American citizen named Cameron Francis, disembarks the aircraft without showing any symptoms of the deadly bug. He is immediately arrested and quarantined in a secret location where he remains completely oblivious to the chaos that is unfolding as the mystery virus sweeps the UK.
Interrogations of the suspect have revealed nothing. Francis refuses to admit any connection to the vicious and deadly strain now dubbed the Omega Mutation by leading scientist's frantically working on an antidote. Francis is either an unwitting participant in a deadly game, or a criminal mastermind of heroic proportions. Either way, his story is sketchy. Claiming to be a close up magician, he carries with him a small attache case filled with cards, coins and other magical paraphernalia. Needless to say, his attachment to this questionable practice only serves to raise suspicion of his involvement in what could be the single most disastrous event that the world has ever known!
Will the deadly virus be stopped? Will Cameron ever convince his captors of his innocence? Will the guards ever grow tired of his card tricks? Will Cameron ever escape? Find out in CAMERON FRANCIS - THE OMEGA MUTATION!

The Omega Mutation by Cameron Francis is truly my post apocalyptic nightmare! Hours of unimpressive derivative magic with an equally unimpressive "cinematic" theme left me in a babbling stupor.
I have come to accept that with the inexpensive media of producing DVDs, there will be an excess of material good and bad. The Omega Mutation is an example of the latter with the emphasis on excess! Not only are we subjected to numerous derivative routines but 3 discs of it!!! Had Big Blind Media or Mr. Francis learned a bit of self editing and limited this project to one disc and eliminated the 28 Days Later theme, they might have had an acceptable product.

I love the music… some good hard rock going on there. Also, the underlying story of a virus outbreak caused by Cameron is pretty fun. The entire video is shot in a quarantine tent with contamination-suit donning spectators. Very funny stuff. Also, Cameron’s not a half bad actor either.
The Omega Mutation is a 3 DVD set with 27 effects. Are they all Gems? Of course not. That would indeed be a rare Gem of a video set. However, none of the effects are Rubble. For the most part, there aren’t a ton of new plots or revolutionary methods, etc.
However, this material is clearly workers material. It’s clearly magic that is audience tested and designed with the working pro in mind. Cameron has a great presence and personality. Based on these DVDs alone, I’m convinced that he is a very successful performer.
Obviously covering all 27 effects would be a bit tedious to read and take too much time and space, but I’ll give some highlights. One last thing before looking at the effects: quite a few of them require extra set up or preparation that might make things a little bit more work for strolling situations. However, there are also plenty of effects that are completely impromptu and easily reset-able. Signed and Assembled as well as Hard Knocks from disk one immediately come to mind… Both effects are incredible.
* Disk One:
o Vivid: The brilliance behind this effect is that it’s a torn and restored card that reuses the same card every time, so you don’t have to destroy a card each time. Very cool idea and very practical. Gem.
o Insecure Prediction: Killer magician-in-trouble effect with a nice visual restoration at the end. Total Gem!
o Cagey: This effect is one of the free effects in Reel Magic Magazine (Issue #4 I believe). There are several effects on this series where signatures or ink seem to move from one card to another. This is one of those, and it is incredible. Not to mention that the method is just as fun as the effect. Definite Gem.
o Dime a Cap: Man if I could do a decent striking vanish this would be in my rep right now!!!!! Totally visual penetration effect. Visual Gem!
o Signed Assembly: I really like this effect. It’s an assembly effect, but it uses 3 signed cards and is much, much more streamlined than typical assemblies… Very powerful Gem.
o Back In Ten: All I can say is WOW! This is the one… you know the one that’s worth the price of the DVD. This one is now officially part of my strolling act. Killer business card give away. One of the best applications for the OTL principle I’ve ever seen. I wish that he did not publish this one! Gemini Gem!
* Disk Two:
o Card A Que: Very visual effect. Requires a little bit of extra stuff to carry around, but sooooo worth it. Gem.
o Cheque This: Hello! Here it is again… the one that makes the price totally worth it. This is one of the sweetest uses for a bill switch. If you work, you’ll use this. Gemini Gem!
o Last Laugh: The ending to this actually caught me off guard and nailed me… good one. That alone makes this a Gem.
* Disk Three:
o Ring Flight: Very cool effect. Easy reset, but does require a little extra “stuff.” Nothing that’s hard to come by, but I just really like to have minimal stuff to carry around. This one however is probably worth the extra stuff. Gem.
o Space Available: Alright. What the heck! This one… darn… why did he have to release this. If I came up with this idea I wouldn’t tell Anyone! That’s all I’m saying. Gemini Gem!
o Dups: Another groovy idea… Just trust me… This one is darn good. Gem!
