(Based on 2 reviews)
Charlie Justice and Jeff Pierce Magic are relaunching their hit DVD "Prohibition: The Ultimate Cap in Bottle Effect" exclusively through Murphy's Magic Supplies Inc. Since its initial release in 2006, Prohibition has been a best seller and allows magicians around the world to perform the cap in bottle effect seemingly impromptu! No longer needed is the setup time involved with other cap in bottle effects. Simply walk up to someone, borrow their bottle and perform a miracle right before their very eyes. This has become the legacy of Prohibition.

Flash forward to 2009 where Charlie Justice has not stood on his laurels. He has taken all the things that made Prohibition great like the impromptu nature of the effect, the ability to borrow any bottle and to have everything examined before and after and come up with some new ideas and moves to make the Cap Trap effect even better, and it's FREE!!!

Included with every Prohibition DVD is a second bonus DVD called "Prohibition Provisions". On this full DVD you'll find:

"Hints and Tips" which includes:
  • Removing and bending the cap
  • Ideas on bringing your own using a borrowed bottle
  • The Perfect Holdouts
  • Increasing the power of your PK ring
  • Using other items besides the bottle cap

I never saw the original Prohibition (1.0) because by the time I became aware of its existence, 2.0 was out for a couple of years and I just picked up the latest version, Prohibition 2.0.

The only difference between the two versions is that 2.0 has a second disc that is chock full of extra ideas, tips and hints.

This DVD set rocks! This is one of the best handlings and presentations for this effect that I have ever seen, and I have seen most of them because the Cap In Bottle is one of the plots in magic that fascinates me the most. One of the best parts of this particular handling is that it justifies everything that you do, which also happens to make it all the more convincing than it already is!

Charlie Justice has hit a huge home run with this - everything on the first disc (which is the original version) is taught in utmost detail - everything from the choice of bottle to the execution of the "move" used to accomplish the effect. It is so clean and magical that it just looks impossible. There are also a bunch of other ideas on how to get into the effect, other ways to present it and even other ways to accomplish the effect, other items that can be used, a signed cap variation and more. That is just the first disc!

The second disc has some pretty devious and ingenious ideas on it. There is a really neat stunt called Ninja Cap that is almost like the old coin standby, "Karate Coin', but is done with a cap that is caught on the tip of your finger. This is a perfect lead-in to the Cap In Bottle. There are also some very clever ways to do this effect where the cap penetrates the bottle and remains completely flat!

They could have easily sold this disc as a separate entity and made a killing because both of these discs, in my humble opinion, are easily worth $25 each and with Prohibition 2.0, you get both for $25!

I highly recommend this video to anyone that has ever wanted to learn the Cap In Bottle effect. Even if you already do another version, you will get a lot of useful ideas, tips and techniques from these DVDs!

When it comes to this effect, Prohibition (cap in bottle), you've got two choices, buy 1 disk for $24.95 or buy 2 disks for $24.95. Hmmm . . . tough choice.

I say, buy the two DVD set for $24.95. For that price, you get the original Prohibition DVD plus the bonus DVD, Provisions.

Forget about the second DVD for a second. Just the first DVD alone is totally worth the price. This is the cleanest, best looking, most magical looking penetration of a cap into a bottle that I've ever seen. Even when you know the method, it still looks amazing! The only "catch" is that you need to own a certain piece of jewelry, but believe me, if you ever needed an excuse to buy said jewelry, this is it.

The whole routine can be done on the spot with two seconds of set up before you walk up to the table. It's brilliant. All of the moves are so simple and so natural looking. It really looks like real magic. So what about the bonus DVD?

Since it's basically a freebie, it's hard to complain too much about it. Even if you get only one decent idea, then you're good.

There is one little quirk . . . when you put the DVD in, it automatically plays the intro message by Mr. Justice. Then it goes to the menu. From the menu, when you click "play" it plays the intro message again, then the rest of the video.

On the bonus DVD, you get a ton of great bonus material. Some of it is explained halfheartedly, while others are given great depth and attention. In both cases, the information is pretty clear.

You'll get some ideas on using plastic water bottles as well as multiple variations and performance/presentational ideas. Finally, there's a killer idea at the end of the video . . . imagine borrowing a bottle, and borrowing a bottle cap, then causing the full bottle cap (un folded) to penetrate the bottle. Normally putting a full unfolded bottle cap in a bottle requires some alone time with the props, not this method . . . it happens right in front of the audience with no private time. It's super clever.

It's practical for just about any venue. Highly recommended. 5 Stars. Complete and total GEM!
