Deep 3

Bro Gilbert

Paul Harris Presents

Paul Harris Presents: Deep 3

You show off two exotic antique Jokers that you carry in your bicycle deck for good luck.

You then ask a special someone to take a walk down memory lane as they remember their very first kiss... and the name of the lucky person behind those lips. It could be any name... but let's say the name happens to be Bro Gilbert.

Now, with empty hands, you cleanly spread through the facedown bicycle deck, revealing the two lucky antique jokers from a moment ago. She removes the two jokers and discovers a bold black letter drawn on each of their backs... a B and a G. The initials of the first person she ever kissed!

And yes, just like deep astonishment, it works with any name.

It starts with a memory... and ends with a miracle.

Bro Gilbert has merged two classics of magic into one of the most ingenious decks of our time. Deep 3 is nearly self-working and exceptionally clean in handling. You can show the backs and faces of normal bicycle cards and your spectator removes the two lucky jokers herself.

With Deep 3 in your pocket, you'll be constantly set (and re-set) for an intimate miracle, or a showstopper for a formal performance.

Manufactured with a red bicycle deck, Deep 3 includes custom vintage "lucky lady jokers" with high-contrast backs so your hand-written letters show up clearly close-up or in front of larger groups. No other props or gimmicks are needed.

Bro Gilbert's Deep 3 is the easiest, most direct, most convenient evolution of the Paul Harris classic that you'll ever perform.

Sometimes, during a review, I'm a Harvester of Sorrow (thank you Metallica), but not today. Today my harvest is purely positive. First, I must compliment Mr. Gilbert on his open and honest video teaser/trailer. I love how he poked fun at all the crazy ridiculous trailers these days. Thank you Brother Gilbert. Take a moment and watch the trailer. If you like the effect, then end of story. Buy this.

However, even if you don't like the effect shown on the trailer, there are several other effects taught on the DVD . . . very powerful effects. Additionally, there is a single sheet printout that comes with the DVD that teaches a couple more ideas. All of these effects have some serious potential for deep connections with your audience. Hence the name Deep 3. Thank you Brothel Gilbert.

The DVD is very well produced, good lighting, good sound, good angles, etc. For $35 bucks you get the deck pretty much all made up (you have to do about 30 minutes worth of one-time prep to the deck), the DVD and the sheet of notes. The deck is well-crafted and handles smoothly. This is a combination of a Deep Astonishment Deck, an Invisible Deck/Brainwave Deck and a Svengali Deck. You basically have to commit to doing only one effect with the deck, which normally I'm not a fan of. However, the list of "one effects" that you have to choose from is pretty incredible.

Here are some samples:

  1. Four people at the table make up a name one letter at a time. The only four Jokers in your deck have a letter on the back of each one . . . just happens to spell the made up name.

  2. A woman (or man) thinks of her first kiss . . . his name. She turns over the only two Jokers in the pack . . . they have his initials (one on each card) on the back.

  3. A woman (or man) randomly makes up a whole new identity . . . job . . . location . . . name; the only two Jokers have the initials of the new identity on the back.

  4. Pass the deck around the table like a hot potato. When the audience decides to stop, the two Jokers in the deck are shown to have the initials of the person holding the deck.

  5. . . . and so much more.

You would never, of course, do all of these effects for the same audience. However, if you're a strolling magician, this gives you a lot of flexibility. Do effect 1 at one table, and effect 4 at another, 3 at another, etc. The reset is easy, and you're only having to carry an extra deck of cards . . . not too much to ask for such a great effect. Obviously, if you don't like the effects or think they don't "fit" you, then don't bother. Otherwise, get it. It's a solid well made product that is 100% honestly advertised.

Thank you Broccoli Gilbert.

P.S. I'm only guessing what "Bro" is short for. :)

Final Verdict:
4.5 Stars with a Stone Status of GEM!
