One of the challenges of this venue is "the approach". Just how do you approach a group of people in a restaurant? Cody realized that the opening effect must be quick, visual, and absolutely amazing!
So what is it? Basically...
The magician approaches a group at a restaurant and borrows a spoon from the table (wink / wink). The spoon is held at the fingertips and slowly (and visually) it begins to bend. Once the spoon is bent almost in half it is handed out for complete examination. The cool part is that the bent spoon matches all the other spoons on the table.

Are you a restaurant worker? If you are, you know that it is probably the best job in the world to begin your magic career with. You also know that approaching the table is the most sensitive, and most difficult aspect of the job. If someone says it’s easy to approach strangers in a restaurant, they either aren’t full time pros, or they have very little genuine social skills, and they lack the grace required to correctly approach people.
Here’s where Cody Fisher’s “Restaurant Opener” comes into play. Cody has created a truly amazing routine that introduces you to a group, and properly sets your potential audience into the correct frame of mind. This isn’t the standard, “Hey did you lose a knife?” type of approach. Cody gives a mini lecture about the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional approaches, and how he found this happy medium.
You are provided with the gimmick, and a DVD that gives all the details for presenting this. My only complaint is the DVD was just in an envelope, and skipped around a bit, which could have been avoided if it was just put in a traditional case. For the price, it could have been packaged a little better.
Cody also includes a bonus effect which is clever, and he shows you how you can incorporate it into a deck switch. Finally, props to Cody for honestly describing the effect in the add!
This is easy. If you work restaurants, you will get you money’s worth just from learning how Cody approaches a table, and if you incorporate the gimmick into your performance, even better!
