A fishmonger’s errand boy delivering a nice fat Herring to a house, found the lady out, and not wanting to leave it around, wrapped it up in a newspaper and put the parcel in the Coke Bin. To let her know what he had done, he wrote a little note and left it on top of the bin. A little while later, a lean, local cat called “Moggy” jumped on the bin, and being very clever, read the note ... nosed the lid open, and jumped inside. Sad to tell, poor Mrs. Thingimebob did not have her snack, for when she opened the bin and looked inside, out jumped Moggy ... now looking very fat and full ... he had eaten the lot! All that was left was a chewed-up newspaper ... and the remains of that nice herring ... just the fishbones! This is grand Entertainment suitable for Children ... and (if you alter the patter around a bit), for Adults, too. The plot and story is excellent ... What happens is that you show the Coke Bin perfectly empty (you can have a few pieces of coke in it, if you like). You next wrap in a newspaper, a large herring, and put it in the empty bin, and this is followed by a large picture of a lean-looking Cat. All you have to do now, is to press a small lever on the back, and this does the trick for you ... for when you next open the box, inside is a chewed-up newspaper, skeleton fishbones and a picture of a cat now looking very fat indeed! This change is effected Mechanically and is sure-fire in working. As a matter of fact, it is one of the most useful props you could ever wish for, as it is a very effective mechanical way of secretly changing one set of articles for another ... all you have to do is to press a small lever ... and that’s that! ... the “dirty work” is done for you! You can use this mechanical changing box for many years to come, as you can easily cover the wording with a strip or two of decorative or coloured Selotape ... and use it as a perfect changing box for other tricks.
The Coke Bin (Mechanical Changing Box) measures twelve inches by six inches by six inches and is well made and finished in Silver with bold black lettering. The “Herrings”, both the complete one and the “Fishbone” are solid props., beautifully made and finished ... while the Cats are painted on stout card and look bold in appearance.
I can guarantee this as a REAL WINNER ... it is complete and READY to WORK RIGHT AWAY with all the necessary patter. COKE BIN IS NOW MADE AS A RUBBISH BIN.
