Magic of Hawaii

This tape is an excellent example of how to work school shows. It is David Ginn’s 1993-94 performance celebration of our 50th State. After a song and “Aloha.” David attempts to make Hawaiian flowers bloom, then plunges into magic with real Hawaiian music using scarves, ropes, balls, and more. The performance on this tape provides a foundation for tailoring your show to a particular theme, and the routines can also be used for just about any other occasion as well. David’s rabbit, Big Kahuna Harvey, makes his appearance and helps use signs to tell where Hawaii came from. There’s a routine about Hawaiian fruit appearing from nowhere, followed by a visit from Mr. Gecko, Hawaii’s favorite green lizard. Two teachers even assist David in doing the hula, there’s a Hawaiian test of manhood, and he closes with a colorful 6-foot butterfly.
