BAMMO BACKTRACK JACK

Bob Farmer

Every Trick In The Book, Inc.

(Based on 2 reviews)
George Carlin once said that "Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy."

The magician says, "I have here three cards, three Jacks of Hearts. Historically, among the court cards, the Jacks represented the trickster, the jester, someone who was completely dishonest."

"So I'd like to demonstrate why honesty really is not the best policy when cards are involved."

Then follows a completely in-the-hands series of stunning visual effects.

A card magically jumps from the middle of the packet to the bottom. Twice.

It turns face up. Twice.

All the faces vanish-then the faces return.

Then - amazingly - the cards are handed out one by one for examination.

This is perfect for walkaround and every day carry.

No angles. Just three cards. No rough and smooth. Instantly Resets. Nothing else like it on the market.

High quality cards and gaff made by Carta Mundi.

Detailed freeze frame instructions make learning the routine easy.

Overview

Bammo Backtrack Jack by Bob Farmer is another packet trick in his Bammo series. As in other Farmer card tricks, Bob Farmer extracts every possible magical moment by cleverly orchestrating each move to permit more and more moments of astonishment. With only three cards you can perform a seemingly miracle.

Effect

Three Jack of Hearts are shown to the spectator(s). They must be restless Jacks as each time they are displayed they either change places, turn upside down or right side up as well as their faces appear and disappear. You just can’t keep these Jacks from jumping around. After all that jumping around, the packet is reset for another performance. Everything is done in the hands which makes it perfect for walk-around performances.

Method

The method makes the use of two Jack of Hearts cards and a common gimmick most card magicians would be familiar with. Along with the three requisite cards a simple card sleight called the Edward Victor E-Y-E move makes all the magic happen. The handling is within the realm of a beginner.

Product Quality

The cards are printed by Carta Mundi, the European equivalent to the US Playing Card Company. Along with the three cards you will receive a link to a PDF download which is eighteen 8.5” x 11.5” pages long. There are almost 90 color photos with the explanation underneath. You couldn’t get any clearer than this.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is completely accurate and you couldn’t get any better bargain for the asking price of $10.

Bob Farmer has a way of taking an effect or a principle and doing a deep dive, wringing as much out of his subject as possible. In this case he takes a single gimmicked card, two normal cards, and a simple sleight created by Edward Victor, and creates a series of startling effects. Cards jump around, flip over, faces disappear and reappear, and the cards are then handed out for inspection.

Mr. Farmer does his usual thorough explanation, accompanied by nearly 90 photographs. For $10 you get the necessary cards and a link to a 20 page PDF with the necessary instructions, complete with references. The effects are all done in the hands (no table necessary), making it great for walkaround gigs.

TL:DR This is an incredible bargain. It's perfect for the magician who doesn't want another "you pick a card and I'll find it" routine.
