Vertigo Prediction

Bazar De Magia

(Based on 1 review)
Some years ago Rodrigo Romano delighted us with his effect Gilligan Prediction. Now he surprises us once again, with his new creation: VERTIGO.

Let's imagine just some of the effects that are possible with VERTIGO:

A card, freely chosen by a spectator, coincides with the prediction made by the performer some seconds before. No forcing of cards. As simple as that: the spectator names the card and it is the same mentioned in the magician's prediction.

Imagine a roulette: the spectator chooses any number, and it coincides with the number the magician predicted. The spectator chooses a character, a country and a letter (or something of any other category) and there is an astounding full coincidence with the magician predictions.

You will find many more ideas that will astonish your audience.

VERTIGO is a genius tool, not only useful in mentalism, but also for parlor, stage or close up magic.

Some of its advantages:

PROS

This is an excellent system for a wide variety of predictions for close-up performance. This is a very unique indexing system that can be used for cards and other applications such as lottery number predictions, countries, celebrity names, or up to 48 names of guests present at a party.

The system could be used for a single prediction, but it also lends itself very well to any one-ahead routine, eliminating the common problem that one of the three predictions may appear less than impossible.

Here are a few examples of routines:

You take out a deck of cards and say you are going to do a card trick, but you are not going to use any of the cards, they are simply going to think of a card. Once they have thought of the card, you write your prediction on a piece of paper and drop it into a wine glass. They name their prediction. You pour the prediction from the wine glass into their hand. They open it and it is a match.

You could do something a bit more complex, like this: You are at a party of 40 people. You write a prediction on a piece of paper and place it in a glass. You ask one of the party members to name any card. You hand the deck to someone else, let’s say named “Bob” in the audience and ask them to remove the named card and hold it. You go to the glass for the first time, dump your prediction in the hands of another participant to read. They read the prediction: “Bob is holding the six of hearts.”

You can also do this with multiple predictions: You ask someone to think of a country and you write down a prediction and drop it in a glass. They reveal their thought of country. You ask someone else to think of the name of any planet. You write down your prediction and drop it in the glass. They reveal their planet. You ask someone else to think of any card in the deck and you write down your prediction and drop it in the glass. They reveal their thought of card. All the cards are dumped into the hands of a participant and they read them. All a perfect match.

The method is very good. It is not particularly difficult to perform. The routines use a bit of sleight of hand, but nothing particularly difficult.

The instruction is good. They thoroughly cover how to prepare for a routine and the handling. They also cover several different routine options ranging from single predictions to multiple predictions, to predicting different things other than playing cards.

CONS

The one big restriction is that this is a system that requires the prediction cards to be around 2 inches long by 1 ½ inches wide (6 by 3 centimeters). Your predictions can’t be any larger than that. Therefore, this is best suited for more close-up situations.

You should also know that this is an index system. It is designed for playing cards, but could be used for anything with up to 48 choices.

AT A GLANCE

Skill level required: 2 of 5.
Audience management skill required: 2 of 5.
Performance angles: 90 degrees
The reset time required: minimal. (You could reset in front of your audience)
The DIY time involved in advance: around 30 minutes one time set up.

VERDICT

This is a great mini-index system. As such, it is probably best suited for close-up work as the prediction papers must be pretty small.
