Well . . . I was actually surprised by this one. It's definitely a clever effect and method. I believe that the effect will actually fool magicians as well as lay peeps. The basic effect is more of a puzzle. A brass box with a hole through the center has a bolt penetrating it and secured by a nut. When the nut and bolt are removed, the spectator opens the brass box and finds a coin inside the box. There's no way the bolt could have gone through the hole in the box, yet it did. Everything can be examined. It's a good effect, but not by itself, in my opinion. Here's what you get for $27.00 bucks:

  • The Brass Box

  • The Bolt and Nut

  • The Gimmick That Makes This Work

  • Some Black Round Stickers - not needed, but work for the presentational idea in the instructions

  • I page sheet of instructions (English on Front, Japanese on Back)

  • Access to a website with performance and explanation videos in Japanese (if you give them your email address)

Not a bad effect, and the props are pretty well made. I think that it does play a bit too much like a puzzle, so I would likely use it more as a throw away . . . I would have a coin in the box and tell the audience that I keep my special coin in here for safe keeping. Then I would remove the bolt, have them open the box and get the coin out. Then I would use it for an effect that demonstrated its "special-ness." I probably wouldn't even draw much attention to the fact that the bolt couldn't go through the coin.

All in all, if you like the concept of the effect, it's probably worth purchasing. 3 stars Gem-ish.
