The Key Card

Ken Ring

Daryl

(Based on 1 review)
This mystery was created by Ken Ring and is marketed exclusively by Daryl

This mathematical principle is so amazing... I don't even know how it works myself!

Effect

A packet of cards is given to any spectator. The spectator merely thinks of anyone's name and any small number. The spectator then deals through the cards spelling out the thought of name and dealing out the selected number. Amazingly, the magical 'Key' card is found at the mentally selected number!

Works every time and is automatically reset. Go on... unlock their imaginations!

WHAT YOU GET

All you get is a paper explanation and a blank faced card with a sticker of an image of a key to stick to the face.

WHAT IS COOL

The instructions are very simple and easy to follow. This is a routine that you could perform on yourself, following along with the instructions. That is exactly what I did and fooled myself! That means that you could also perform this trick via zoom with their deck, using the joker instead of the key card, and having them follow your verbal instructions.

This is one of those baffling tricks that you may have to think about before understanding how or why it works. It just seems to work, in spite of the choices they make.

The method is good.

WHAT ARE THE DOWNSIDES

This is one of those “clever little tricks”. I don’t think you would close a big show with this one. However, it really is a “clever little trick”.

AT A GLANCE

Skill level required: 2 of 5.
Audience management skill required: 1 of 5.
Performance angles: 360 degrees
Reset time required: You can reset in front of your audience.
DIY time involved in advance: None

VERDICT

This is a really fun little trick. I hate to go out on a limb, but some magicians tend to only put their name to good tricks. The late Daryl is one of those. This trick isn’t likely to close any shows, but it really is a fun trick to learn, and you don’t even need to use the prop provided, you could perform this trick via zoom where your participant uses their cards and they do all the moves per your instructions.

Suggestions

Try this one with a remote participant via zoom and see what mileage you get out of it.
