Switchblade

Harlan, Dan

(Based on 1 review)
Color changes, vanishes, transpositions and more... This one gimmick does is all!

Switchblade is a precision-made mechanical device that looks like an ordinary card but this clever gimmick is extraordinary! This modern tool eliminates difficult sleight-of-hand allowing you to perform impossible card magic.

Change one card into another, make the back visually change color, perform an incredible 3 Card Monte, vanish a selected card from your hand and it reappears in the deck held by the spectator... an more! In the included video instructions, Dan Harlan personally performs and teaches you how to use your Switchblade gimmick to do all of this without the hard work.

And the best part is Switchblade is so versatile and fun to use that you'll be coming up with your own routines in no time. Previously only available to a select few, Harlan has finally made his ingenious gimmick available to YOU so that you can experience the thrill of Switchblade!

After his very public legal and personal issues, Dan Harlan is back, and he’s back with a product that is very new and different, yet it has the same kind of feel as his classic gimmicks. I’m sure you’d be hard pressed to find someone who hasn’t bought Card-Toon, or Hover Card at some point during a trip to the magic shop. I think this new product will find a similar place in the collection of many card magic enthusiasts.

It’s hard to describe what the gimmick is, plus I can’t expose how it works. All I will say is that when Harlan appeared on screen and showed how to use it, I said out loud, “COOL!” Luckily, the awesomeness did not stop there as he went on to teach some interesting ideas and effects with it. This sort of reminds me of the product I reviewed called, “The Shark” but this one is well made and much more durable.

The DVD is decently shot and produced. While it didn’t cut corners, it’s certainly not a ‘Dan & Dave’ level of product.

The only real problem I had with this is that only one gimmick is included. While the gimmick will last a good amount of time, it would be nice to have an extra included in case one gets damaged or wears out after excessive use.

If you do card magic, and don’t mind using a gaff to seriously clean up your effects, this is something you should definitely look into!
