The Floating LADY

Zanadu Magic

Zanadu

(Based on 1 review)
Magically levitate the princess over a Bicycle Back playing card!

Place the princess on the card and she slowly rises only to gracefully returns back to the surface of the card, she may be removed and handed to the spectator for examination. You can even use your own match, toothpick or the supplied cut-out princess.

Easy to do, great close-up magic!

Overview

Well, I'm struggling a bit on this one. Major positive: It isn't expensive! Retails for less than $10 US -- in 2023, that's not bad! As you may've sussed out, when using the 'invisible' gimmick stuff, lighting is always an issue. That is for sure the case here! Also you CANNOT pass out the card after performing (but you could change it out with an ungimmicked card, if you're skilled).
I will keep this one. Will I perform it much? No. Is this a nice freebie give away trick for your niece or nephew? Sure!
It's small and light, but in transit/handling would have to be protected well. I am giving it an extra half-star because the princesses are printed nicely.

Effect

Along the vein of the 'Floating Match', a full color mini cut-out of a princess levitates about a card.

Method

Well: you know that "invisible" stuff that helps to make stuff levitate? Well this uses a spider's web of it! (That isn't a compliment!) It doesn't exactly create 'bad mojo', but it gets a wee bit awkward in certain ways.

Product Quality

Hmmmm: I mean it is what it promises to be, and it comes with a total of 3 princesses! Not sure why the gimmick is structured as a double card.

Ad Copy Integrity

Y'know, I'm struggling here. The ad copy I could find is quite brief. Yes, the princess floats. She sure does. There may be 8 six year-olds in the world (if your room's lighting is perfectly dim) who would find this amusing (at most).

Final Thoughts

A cute first or second trick. Might amuse the performer (if they are alone) and one or two people (including that sweet Auntie who thinks everything you do is great!)... but that's about it.
